IF YOU CAN’T SAY SOMETHING NICE…

I’m on the road this week which means lots of eating out, eating out with new folks and room service. My typical conversations go something like this:
Waitstaff: “How was your meal?” Me: “It was great, thanks!”
That has become my auto response to anything food related and it is kind of comical. I hadn’t really thought about it until a conversation with a colleague yesterday while we grabbed a quick bite.
Ali: “The food at this hotel is really good.” Me: “I know.” Ali: “Do you?” Me: LOL – “I guess not!”
Ali knows that I have no sense of smell or taste, so her light-hearted challenge was appropriate, and it brought to light my tendency to just say things are great…when I have no idea!
Guess the old adage is a little different for me: “If you can’t say something nice because you really don’t know, just fib a bit and say everything is great!” It just makes life easier and avoids the conversation about the loss of senses. Clearly less is more in this case.
I am The Tasteless Gourmand!
